SUPERVISOR IS VICTIM OF WRECK
Percy Werthwein , 52 , of Burlington , Prominent Dairymen and Officer for Township Since '29 Dies at Waterman of Head Injury
Injuries , suffered last Saturday night two miles south of Leland on route 23 , late Tuesday night proved fatal at Waterman to Supervisor Percy Werthwein of Burlington , one of four duck hunters figuring in he accident. He was 52.
He and three other Burlington men , en route to Peoria for a Sunday of hunting , were in the car when it failed to negotiate a sharp curve and then plowed into a dirt embankment. Werthwein suffered a skull fracture and only once regained consciousness before death at Waterman hospital to which he had been rushed after the wreck. He had been supervisor for Burington township since April of 1929 , was chairman of the Kane County sheriffs committee on the board , was president of the Burlington Pure Milk association and headed the Burlington Milk Products company . His wife Alice and eight childen survive him together with many friends and associates.
