PUGH, Robert Nicholls, 77, died Mon., June 13, 2005. Mr. Pugh was born in Crowley, Louisiana, the son of the late Colonel Philip S. and Nelsie Copelin Pugh, and moved to New Orleans in 1928. He graduated from Marion Military Institute in Marion, Alabama. After graduation he served in the United States Navy patrolling the waters of China. He later attended Louisiana State University and was initiated into the Kappa Alpha order and was graduated from Mississippi Southern. After graduation he was commissioned in the U.S. Army serving with distinction on the front lines as an artillery forward observer in Korea. He received the World War II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, UN Service Ribbon, Bronze Star, and Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters. He retired from General Electric Company in 1988. Mr. Pugh served on the Vestry of St. Hubert's Episcopal Church and on the Blue Grass Trust Historic Commission. He volunteered for God's Pantry and was a member of Lexington Cotillion. He was an avid golfer and in 1989 hit a hole in one. Survivors include his wife, Patricia O'Sullivan Pugh; his daughter, Cynthia Holmes; his sisters, Dorothy Deloteus, Bowling Green, and Jane Ferguson, New Orleans, LA; several nieces and a nephew. His son, Robert Nicholls Pugh Jr., and his brother, Philip S. Pugh III, preceded him in death. He has bequeathed his body to the University of Kentucky for the advancement of medical science and education. A memorial service will be held 3 pm Sat., at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. Visitation will be at 2 pm until the time of service.
