Bernice A. "Toni" Layton, 77, a long time resident of Park City passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 in Escondido, CA. Mrs. Layton was born on January 27, 1935 in Pittsburg, CA. She married her husband Charles on September 10, 1955. While living in Park City, Toni was very active in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and worked at the Kimball Art Center. Mrs. Layton enjoyed painting, hiking, flowers and traveling the world with her husband. The Laytons moved to California in 2009. She is survived by children: Teresa Dix, Lake Elsinore, CA, Kelly (Frank) Fiorito, Escondido, CA, Steve (Dawn) Layton, Temecula, CA, David (Michelle) Layton, Murrieta, CA; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and step-mother Frances Romo who is 97. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 2010, parents Reynaldo and Agnes Romo, brother Richard Romo, and son-in-law Russell Dix in 2012. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, November 5, 2012 at San Rafael Catholic Church in San Diego, CA with the Committal at San Marcos Cemetery in San Marcos, CA. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Toni's name to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org. Arrangements are by Alhiser-Comer Mortuary.
