This interesting article found above was published in the August 12, 1896 copy of The (New Brunswick) Daily Times. The headline read, "Two Horses Collide."

The sub-headline then read, "Come Together on Remsen Avenue and do Much Damage.".

Having gotten one's attention the article explained, "A head on collision between two horses, one owned by ex-Freeholder David McCloskey and the other owned by Aaron Leppert, the baker, took place on Kemsen avenue,, opposite Anderson's grocery store, on Tuesday afternoon. Leppert was delivering bread in the store and had left his horse and wagon standing at the gutter. A big gray horse owned by Mr. McCloskey and which had ran-a way from Driver Ryan a short time before, came down the street at great speed and being driven by its owner. It finally became unmanageable and went directly toward Leppert's horse. He had heard the noise and tried to move his rig out of the way. Before he could do this the horses came together and both were knocked down. Mr. Mc Closkey was thrown out of his wagon but escaped serious injury.".
