Above is a copy of a brief article that ran in the Daily Home News (New Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey) on June 3, 1889. The article was on page three (3) and said:

An Ugly Customer.

Last night John Leppert was amusing himself by insulting and attempting to assault people on Neilson street when Officers Ward and Fox took him in. He was just drunk enough to be ugly, and gave the officers all the trouble he knew how. Recorder Housell sent him to jail for 30 days.
