Richard M. Vincz Sr., 75 of East Brunswick passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday December 2nd.
He was born in New Brunswick and was the son of the late Michael and Mary Vincz of S. River. He lived in South River for 11 years before moving to East Brunswick 40 years ago.
Mr. Vincz was employed for 10 years as a supervisor for the Schweitzer Mauduit Intl., Spotswood, retiring in 2004. Previously he was employed for 29 years as Senior Group Supervisor in Engineering for the E.I. DuPont Corp., Parlin.
Baseball marked his life, from pitching in little league; South River High School baseball captain; spending a season with the Quad-Cities farm team of the Milwaukee Braves; as a little league coach; playing with various local teams, notably with his sons and friends into his 50's. He was a lifelong fan of the NY Yankees with Mickey Mantle as his sports idol. He had happy memories of playing with baseball greats Joe Torre and Rico Cardi when with the Braves.
He and his family spent many happy times at their vacation home on Chincoteague, Virginia.
He was a member of St. George's Anglican Church of Helmetta and lived in faith.
Mr. Vincz was a devoted husband and father. He had a crisp and gentle wit that will be greatly missed. Laughter was a gift he gave to his family and friends.
Surviving are his beloved high school sweetheart and wife of 56 years Jane (Leppert) Vincz,, his three sons Richard Jr. and his wife Edna, Adam and his wife Katherine and Mark and his wife Claire, his four grandchildren Nile and Mark Vincz, Rio Vincz and Randee Shoblock and his great grandson Ryan Marx.
Services will begin 9:15 a.m. Tuesday December 6th at the Lester Memorial Home 16 W. Church St., Jamesburg followed by a 10 a.m. Liturgy at St. George's Anglican Church, Helmetta.
Burial will be in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
Visiting hours for family and friends will be Monday 5-9 p.m. and Tuesday 8:15-9:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George's Anglican Church mortgage fund.
