Lee "Humphrey" Kupsch
AGE: 73 - Sayreville
Lee "Humphrey" Kupsch, age 73 of Sayreville, passed away Saturday November 19th 2011 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Sayreville, he was a lifelong borough resident. Before his retirement, he worked as a truck driver with Thomas and Chadwick and then as an instrument mechanic for 35 years with Union Carbide in Bound Brook. Humphrey was an exempt volunteer fireman with Engine Company 1 in Sayreville, a member and past president of the Sayreville Seniors Thursday Club and the St. Stan's Seniors. He was a very active member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Sayreville.
He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Evelyn and his brother Wayne. Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years the former Phyllis Gerenza, his adoring daughter Susan Anne Kupsch Hudson and her husband Kevin of Eastanollee, GA, his brothers and their wives Joseph and Maryanne of East Brunswick, Barry and Joyce of Sayreville, Glenn and Marlene of Sayreville, his sister-in-law Claire Kupsch Shaluha of South River, his brother in law John Gerenza and his wife Lorraine of Monroe, many beloved nieces and nephews and his honorary granddaughter Stephanie Spies.
Funeral services will be Wednesday 1:30pm from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main St. Sayreville with a 2pm service to follow at The 1st Presbyterian Church in Sayreville. Burial will take place at Washington Monumental Cemetery in South River. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. The following groups will hold services on Tuesday the Sayreville Seniors Thursday Club 2:15pm, the St. Stan's Seniors 2:30pm and Sayreville Engine Company 1 at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Humphrey's name to The 1st Presbyterian Church of Sayreville 172 Main Street Sayreville, NJ 08872.
