Julia Lis Shenko

AGE: 91 - South River

Julia Lis Shenko, age 91, of South River, passed away Friday April 8th 2011 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sayreville, she had lived in South River most of her life. Before her retirement, Mrs. Shenko worked as a seamstress for Colonial Blouse Factory in South River and East Brunswick. She was a member of the ILGWU and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 1451 in South River. Mrs. Shenko was a member of Ss Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church in South River.

She is predeceased by her husband Alexander, her daughters Loretta Rockel, and Patricia Andrews, her brother Edward and Joseph Lis, and her sister Josephine Ujobagy. Surviving are her daughter with whom she lived, Joan Miller, her sister Irene Okulski of Sayreville, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Ave. South River, with a 9am service at Ss Peter and Paul RO Church in South River. Burial will take place at Ss Peter and Paul RO Cemetery in South River. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Panahida service will take place Sunday afternoon at 2pm.
